Bio

A list of commonly asked questions.

Question…How long have you been performing Brent & Woofy?
Brent: Woofy was ‘born’ in 1993.  We have been entertaining kids and families with music and comedy ever since!

Question…Were do you live?
Brent: I live in Nanaimo BC Canada.

Question…Are you a dad?
Brent: Yes.  I am a single father raising two teenage boys.

Question…How did you start performing for kids?
Brent: I have been a professional musician since 1982.   When my sons were little I started writing songs for them in 1993.  They loved the music and I loved playing for them.  Then others loved it too!

Question…Do you write all the music you perform?
Brent:  99.5%!!  Occasionally I sing some standard Christmas songs and tunes like Old MacDonald, the rest are written by me!

Question…Can we hear some of your songs on the internet?
Brent:  Yes, click here to go to the music page then click on one of the CD covers.

Question…How many CDs have you recorded?
Brent: Five.  My first was 'Homemade Remade' in 1993.  'Shine Shine Shine' in 1995.  I wrote some Christmas songs a long time ago and recorded them on an album in 1997 entitled 'It's Christmas Time!'  My fourth CD was recorded in 2003, "Under a Star". 2008 Woofy's Christmas Bone Shaped Bow Tie

Question…How does Woofy talk by himself?
Brent: Actually Woofy doesn't talk.  I talk for him by performing ventriloquism.  Basically I speak in his voice without moving my lips so it looks like Woofy talking.

Question…Who inspires you?
Brent: My biggest inspiration came from Ernie Coombs, better known as Mr. Dressup.  In 1993 I wrote the song "Thank You Mr. D" as a tribute to him. I sent it to him in Toronto and when he heard it he wrote me a letter and invited me backstage at his performance in Nanaimo. Since then I visited with Ernie whenever he was in my part of the world.  One of my fondest memories is Christmas 1997 when Mr. Coombs placed a phone call to Brent & Woofy.  Ernie Coombs passed away on September 18th 2001.

More inspiration comes from some of my favorite performers.
